Joseph Miller

April 26, 1978 - June 29, 2019

Born in Binghamton, NY
Resided in Elizabeth, NY

On Saturday June 29th, 2019, Joseph Robert Miller, loving son,
brother, uncle and fiance, passed away at the age of 41.

Joseph was born on April 26th, 1978 in Binghamton, NY to Mark
Miller and Patricia Ann Ritchie. He received his communications
degree from William Paterson University in 2003 and was accepted to the American Film Institute shortly thereafter. For over a decade Joseph worked in the entertainment industry as an independent contractor. He lent his talents, knowledge and expertise to many jobs which ranged from lighting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree to being a "special member (of DrapeKing's) Super Bowl dream team."

Joey was wildly creative, good-hearted, protective, outrageous, and fearless - a true weirdo. He had a pension for photography and was an exceptionally gifted filmmaker. His intensely brilliant mind and warped sense of humor were traits that got him into trouble from time to time. He loved to make his friends and family smile and would often go to extreme lengths to elicit their laughter. Those who actually knew Joe, know that he was in reality quite introverted and only allowed a select few people into hiscolorful world. This was in no doubt a direct result of losing his brother and best friend Joshua at the young age of nineteen. He ultimately found happiness with Christina Villalobos who he became engaged to on Tuesday, June 25th, just days before his untimely death. He was a unique individual, or creature as he would have likely preferred, which will make it impossible for most people to ever forget him.

Joseph was proceeded in death by his brother Joshua. He is survived by his mother Patricia, his father Mark, his grandmother Betty, his sister Heather, his sister Sarah, his nephew Sean, his brother-in-law David and his fiance Christina.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Browning-Forshay Funeral Home on Lafayette Ave in Hawthorne. A repast will be held after the services at Primo Amore Bistro on Diamond Bridge Ave in Hawthorne.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson, the charity which paid his brother Joshua's medical bills after his passing in 1998.

Joe was my friend. I hadn’t seen him or even spoken with him in...ages. But I’ll always love him. He was a genius. A savant. Tortured, flawed, eccentric and impossibly talented and intelligent. It saddens me to realize he’s gone; I’ll never again receive the late night drunk-dial wherein we catch up...talk about what is and what was. But I also know that, for whatever reason, he romanticized death; and it’s a strange comfort to know he’s finally found that respite and peace. Happy trails, Joe Miller. Give Josh my love in the great beyond.
